Our first afternoon activity was a great success – sailing right across the reservoir. The rain held off and the sky even turned blue on our way back.

Ahead of FJS book week, 3H and 6H had a lovely session of paired reading. 6H gave out reading tips and shared their favourite authors with their partners.

6H create magical poetry
The photos below show examples of free form poetry created by 6H. Magic wands were used as a stimulus, vocabulary ideas collected and finally rearranged to create poetry. We found that short words with sharp consonants created excitement and a change in pace. Longer words caused the reader to slow down, and were often used to show mystery to tension in the poem.
Concrete materials make maths marvelous for 6H
This week 6H have been furthering their understanding of division by using concrete materials. The photos below show different examples of how materials have been used to aid learning and understanding. Work on the whiteboards shows the progression to pictorial then abstract representations.
6H Christmas narratives
6H have been busy creating a Christmas narrative this week in literacy, working hard to achieve their writing target throughout the process. Today they have put together all their ideas and work to create an Imovie animation of their story.
